Welcome

The Bo Spring Band is a band from Florida's gulf coast. We like to blend Rock, Soul, Country, Funk and Bluegrass music into our own sound. Some call it Americana. We call it fun and love to spend as much time as possible doing it.

The Bo Spring Band Debut Album Is Out!

Well, that was a lot of work, but oh so much fun. We had a great time in the studio with our friend and co-producer Justin Belew at Bibb City Sound in Columbus, GA. He did a whole lot of work in a short amount of time, and on top of that dropped some lovely keys work on several of the tracks. He also found us a Bari sax player, Brian Canonigo, who came in and laid down the funky stuff on 'Give You A Shove'. Remotely, we were able to convince an old friend and piano & organ master Mark Bencuya to contribute on 'Give You A Shove' and 'Wait A While'. Also, up in Nashville, Bruce Bouton was kind enough to lend us his pro skills on pedal steel for "Any Way' and 'Another Man', both tracks that seem to be turning out to be fan favorites, probably for the very reason that he played some absolutely killer parts that really make those songs.

So now what? Well, we had a HUGE turnout for sleepy little Port Saint Joe at the Historic Port Theatre on 4/20 for the Album Release Event. Not sure we could have dreamed it up any better. What a night and a big ole thank you to all that took time to attend and listen. Since then, we've been steady out working gigs between our day jobs and trying to spread the music on the album in lots of different ways. The digital world is crazy and we are doing all we can to get the music out there to see if any of it sticks! We hope so, but if not, we'll still be here doing what we do anyway, because we have all of you and we love to play music.

Thanks for being live music fans and keep on supporting your local artists wherever you are. See you all soon!

Pedal Steel Dreaming

BSB Folks,

Forgive us for the tardiness on an update --- we've been gigging our rear ends off!:)  As we're closing in on Labor Day (and staring down Tropical Hermine during a rare weekend off), we needed to tell you guys thank you for an incredible summer.

In the past few months we've had a heck of a ride.  We were honored to be a part of Bowery Station's final hoorah in the well-loved old marine supply location in Apalachicola.  The memories we have playing there are some of our fondest and we know wherever owners Matt and Lisa Gardi land, it will be on their feet.  They created an un-buyable feel good vibe and tribe in Apalachicola and we stand with them hoping a new Bowery Station appears soon somewhere close by.

Then we got to head north as a band for the first time!  Trish and Dave Warriner were gracious enough to invite us to come and play Trish's 50th birthday party in Cashiers, NC and that place was absolutely beautiful.  We played at their golf club for her party and then got to play Groovin on the Green and the Ugly Dog Pub Cashiers.  We met a lot of new friends and were surprised to see half of St Joe there as well!

Then it was onto Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp in Maryville, Tn -- Bo for flat picking guitar, Randon for bass and Lauren for fiddle.    All the teachers are masters and the instructor concerts alone are worth going for.  We highly recommend it for beginners to advanced players.   Randon learned how to roll his bass, Lauren enjoyed Bobby Hicks' road stories and Bo is still wondering how to hire half of them.

Then it was time to head back to Port St Joe and we've had some of the best times collaborating with our music friends like John Sutton and Brian Bowen.

Our friend Bruce Bouton who is a famed session pedal steel player from Reba McEntire's band and currently touring with Garth came down for a surprise visit.   We can't even describe how good it felt to hear that pedal steel guitar ringing out in St Joe at Krazy Fish and The Hub 30A in Santa Rosa Beach.   Brian Bowen and Charlie and Dana Black even hopped in for a couple sets which was icing on the cake.

It's been amazing and we're so grateful to you for giving us the opportunity to play music.  Please click our friends names to check out their music below.  We've got new dates up and can't wait to see you at the next show!

Blast on the Bay Songwriters Festival

Mind = Blown. While this is more of a songwriting event than a band event, festival weekend #2 must be mentioned.  This festival changes our (Bo and Lauren's)  life in great ways every year and this year was no exception. The highlights were a getting to play a round with THE Troy Jones (had Lauren weeping in public), a gospel show with Jerry Salley (incredible new album we got to try to recreate live), and then a round with Jerry, Danny Myrick and Aaron Barker (where we got to join the crowd signing his song "A Love Without End' back to him in one if the sweetest moment ever witnessed. We got a dose of fresh music from the emerging talent showcase (Edward Hartline won - go check him out!) where every participant was pretty amazing and the roster artists performed hit after hit and were so good it just left you shaking your head.   Please check this festival out, we can't say enough good things about it. http://www.blastonthebay.com

Festival Weekend

Hello!

Well, it was a little surreal to play two major festivals this weekend.   The Florida Scallop and Music Festival and The Destin Seafood Festival were cool enough to let us play both main stages and the audiences at both venues were so attentive and receptive.   It's always a little scary to play new originals for people (or originals period if they are new to your music), but their positive energy was plenty for us to feed on to play as well as we know how.    The Scallop Fest folks sat through the cold rain to hear us play and it was so good to see some of our favorite faces out there.   The festival staff took amazing care of us and we felt very large and important being gatored to and from the stage with our gear.  As usual Rick Ott and his sound team made us sound better than we are! LOL.

In Destin, our 2 little cars with their open trunks bleeding gear looked hilarious next to the Southern Drawl's ENORMOUS bus that parked 3.5 inches away from our 4Runner.  We followed Destin local artist Season Ammons and her band and she's got a killer voice and some very strong songwriting skills.    Hal and his staff were some of the most professional sound folk ever and their breakdown setup speed could set a world record.    We all got to go stuff ourselves full of fried heaven and listen to the other bands which was such a rare treat.    Bo's old college band's manager, Chad Barber, hung with us and made us feel pretty big time with all his industry lingo and ideas.  Synopsis - The band now realizes an album is a necessary next step.  So if you need us, we're probably in our home studio on take 156.    ALL OUR BEST. - BSB
